Somewhere in Miami, Gabrielle and Danielle Verderase are making new party rocking club tracks for us right now. Duelle consists of two sisters who have been in the music scene for quite some time now and are continuing to make a name for themselves in the trap and EDM scene. As the girls took some time out of their day to have a chat with me about the impact they have had on the music scene recently, I learned that they are known for making a diverse spread of music that keep their live performances different and unique.
The “Trap Queens” also known as Duelle are standing out in the scene as two girls who can hold absolutely it down on stage. As a girl myself, I was curious to find out how the public reacts to the girls in such a male dominant industry. They explained to me that it was “hard at first to be accepted because they were different than what people expected.” They have been making music for almost seven years now and been creating EDM tracks for about three years starting out with dubstep and evolving to their new style where they just released their new track “Ice” in the deep house genre. By making tracks of different genres, the girls have appealed to the masses and are gaining respect from dance floors all around. Their songs are featured in clubs and they have recently gone on tour with Caked UP and made tracks with ETC! ETC! and Sikdope just to name a few. The girls set themselves apart by turning it up on stage with their performances featuring live vocals with overall great energy to watch on stage.
As sisters, they have similar taste and are on the same page when it comes to producing their new tracks, together. Even though their style has evolved through the years and they make songs that fit into different genres, they both know what works for them and their style, which is awesome. In my opinion, I think that it’s great that producers can work together in collaboration, sisters or not, and agree on a track that they are proud of enough to share with the masses. They are on the same page when it comes to what sounds and style they like, and feed off of each other to take it to the next level.
One of my favorite things to ask performers in the EDM scene is what their favorite part about being in the scene right now is. The sisters gave me an excellent answer when they said they “love the scene because there are no real boundaries or limitations when it comes to a live EDM show.” Today, producers are adding in live instruments and dancers to create an experience that is not only just DJs, which creates a platform for producers to do whatever they want and that’s what makes the EDM scene so special. Audiences appreciate a performance that is different than the last show they saw, and when they walk away knowing they witnessed something raw and different. I always appreciate when artists don’t identify with only one genre of music, and these girls dabble in all different kinds of music which appeals to more people, making them even more accepted overall.
After listening to Duelle’s music and talking with them, I realize that they are truly something special in the scene right now. I think that it is incredibly empowering for these girls to not follow the rules of mainstream music and really push the limits to make the EDM scene whatever they want it to be. These girls want to bring something new to the table when it comes to live performances, and for that I appreciate them!
I Thank the sister duo, Duelle again for taking the time out of their day to talk with me. I hope one of these days that I can check out their live performance, until then I will continue to listen to theirSoundCloud and follow them on Facebook to find out what they will be up to next!
