Last weekend we caught up with Illenium before his show at Lincoln Hall in Chicago. This marks his first major tour, with dates all over the US, some of them including roommate and homie, Said The Sky. A bunch of the stops have already sold out with one of the stops in Detroit selling out, and Illenium deciding to add a second date. This all came after his fantastic release of his first full album, Ashes, which hit #1 on iTunes, and his ever popular remix of Kaskade’s “Disarm You”, which already has reached 6 million plays on SoundCloud. Check out the full interview below.
We were extremely lucky to see Nick and Trevor (Said The Sky) in Chicago, with all of the flight problems they have already had on this tour. Trevor had to miss the Denver date due to the airport closing, and the ‘sold out’ Detroit show was moved due to more travel problems. I think this is why Nick decided to add a second show, to hook the D up, so-to-speak. This tour featured Illenium’s insane lighting rig complete with dope lasers and his normal digital key/drum set-up.
Chicago was given a treat with Quinn XCII (92) singing “With You” live. His voice is amazing and he is a really cool guy as well. Before he headed to go on stage he was worried about “no one knowing the lyrics”, however the whole place lit up and sang the lyrics back to him. “You were worried eh?” I said after the performance. “That was amazing!” Quinn XCII replied. This was one of the best shows we have attended and I suggest you find tickets asap to the stop in your city. The #FOMO is real guys.
